We are excited to share the highlights from our recent brainstorming workshop, “Civic initiative for an updated Cyprus peace process design (C-Up),” held on May 28th at Ledra Palace. With the support of UNDP and the International Communities Organisation (ICO), this event marked a significant step in engaging citizens to break the deadlock towards resolving the Cyprus problem.
Key contributions from speakers such as Head of Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center, Meltem Onurkan-Samani, Erato Kozakou-Markoullis, and Fiona Mullen set the stage for in-depth discussions on various topics. The workshop included panel sessions on different types of assemblies, ensuring inclusivity, keeping political leaders engaged without interference, and the logistics of referendums. Presenters and panelists like Kemal Baykallı, Bülent Kanol, Liana Liu Ioannides, Sophia Papastavrou, Petros Aristodemou, Magda Zenon, Ayşe Bıyıkoğlu Türkmen, İpek Borman, Charis Psaltis, Berk Tansel, James Ker-Lindsay, Neophytos Loizides, and Mine Yücel provided valuable insights and recommendations.
We are thrilled with the positive response and high level of participation. The event highlighted the importance of inclusive assemblies and public support in creating sustainable solutions. We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to this crucial initiative and look forward to the next steps.
