International Institute for Peace (IIP) Visits Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre (CPDC)
On June 17, representatives from the International Institute for Peace (IIP) in Vienna visited the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre (CPDC) to learn more about its ongoing work and peacebuilding strategies in Cyprus. The delegation was welcomed by CPDC Founding Director Dr. Meltem Onurkan-Samani and CPDC’s Communications Manager Bulut Unvan.
During the meeting, Dr. Onurkan-Samani presented CPDC’s current activities and shared insights from her long-standing experience in civic and official initiatives for a comprehensive and sustainable solution in Cyprus. She emphasized the importance of moving beyond symbolic gestures, and highlighted the need for inclusive dialogue, transparency, and stronger public engagement in future peace efforts.
The discussion also touched on challenges faced by existing reconciliation mechanisms and considered broader approaches to intercommunal cooperation and transitional justice.
The IIP delegation expressed strong interest in CPDC’s work and discussed potential areas for future collaboration.
We thank our colleagues at the International Institute for Peace for their kind visit and for sharing this moment on their platforms. With their permission, we are happy to reshare it here.
