Mario Nava Visits Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center (CPDC)

Mario Nava, Director-General of the European Commission’s Structural Reform Support Service, visited the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center (CPDC) accompanied by Giulia Bertezzolo, Assistant to the Director General, ), Stefan Simosas, Head of Cooperation, Michel Vedrenne, Head of Section, and Florin Stoleru, Programme Manager in the Cyprus Settlement Support Unit.
Nava and his team were briefed by CPDC President Meltem Onurkan Samani, along with CPDC members Katie Clerides, Ipek Borman, Andy Georgiou, Hüseyin Silman, and Bulut Unvan on the Center's extensive efforts towards resolving the Cyprus issue and addressing human rights violations resulting from the ongoing conflict.
During the meeting, the discussions also covered the scope of the EU's relations with Turkish Cypriot civil society.
At the visit held on 24/5/2024, the European Union's role in the region was also discussed.
Both parts evaluated the progress and difficulties in the process of building peace and stability on the island.
Nava's visit underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the European Union and the Cypriot communities. This visit also marked one of Nava's final engagements in his current role.
