OPEK and CPDC Join Forces for Peace in Cyprus

On March 17, 2025, the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre (CPDC) hosted a productive meeting with the Association for Social Reform (OPEK-) at our offices in Nicosia. Together, we explored key areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening peacebuilding and civic engagement across Cyprus.

On March 17, 2025, the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre (CPDC) hosted a productive meeting with the Association for Social Reform (OPEK-) at our offices in Nicosia. Together, we explored key areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening peacebuilding and civic engagement across Cyprus.

Key participants included Theano Kalavana, President of OPEK, Meltem Onurkan Samani, President of CPDC, Özdil Nami, former Turkish Cypriot negotiator, Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Representatives from both organizations included Andri Christoudia, George Pachis, Kyriakos Pierides, Michalis Beys, Eric Shukuroglou, İpek Borman, Hüseyin Silman, Andy Georgiou, and Bulut Unvan.

Both organizations emphasized the urgency of overcoming societal apathy, promoting transparency, and raising awareness about reconciliation's tangible benefits. Ideas discussed included public forums, podcasts, civic assemblies, and community engagement campaigns to enhance bicommunal cooperation.
